keep it classy

this morning as i was dreading what would turn out to be a solid 8 hours of studying for my mechanics of materials (structural engineering) midterm (which is on thursday), i decided to calm my nerves and reminisce with a lovely cup of english breakfast tea, with milk and sugar. i don't know how i made it this far in life without discovering the comfort and joy of that tea. only fitting that i would discover it in england i suppose. i miss tea houses in england. i miss the culture, the experience, the regularity of it all. that little white porcelain tea pot and the magical little dishes that were served with it.

the jane austen center tea room in bath:
isn't it just the cutest??

mmm those raw brown sugar cubes. i won't lie, we ate a few of those plain...

crumpets with clotted cream and honey. clotted cream is kind of butter/whipped cream combination, delicious and light and not available in the US from what i've found

the most perfect, precious crumpets!

this is at my favorite: Auntie Tea's in Cambridge. i came here three times. i would pay ridiculously more money than 7 pounds 95 pence for another taste of the Auntie Tea's special: 2 wholemeal scones with jam and clotted cream (perfectly moist yet slightly crumbly), 4 triangles of egg and watercress sandwich on brown bread and a pot of english breakfast. perfection in my book.

unfortunately black teas, specifically english breakfast, are really horrible for your teeth. i was promptly informed of such by my dentist upon arrival. as she removed the emerging tea stains (:() she let me know how much dentists dread british patients because they have the worst teeth due to their tea drinking habits.
i'd rather have bad teeth and be in england than have good teeth and be here...;D
