Happy 4th!
Two years ago I celebrated in england, with Independence Day, the movie (our british TAs tried to make us feel at home?) and a good old American BBQ at Cambridge University, and a cheeky game of capture the flag, brits vs americans. Then there was the discovery of coincidental fireworks in cambridge which led us sprinting across town on those cobblestone roads with no shoes on.
Last year, I celebrated with half of my group of girls that I had met in cambridge. Eating PF Changs (so not patriotic again!), driving around seeking ice cream and again seeking fireworks in orange county.
Today I will be with my fiance, taking a small break from the packing mayhem.
I have not actually seen my apartment, only the building itself because the current tenants don't move out until the 6th, but I learned that there is a full-size fridge and microwave but no oven/stove...I love to cook friends. So I've been seeking toaster oven friendly recipes. And I plan on hijacking fiance's stove top on the weekends, especially to cook up big pots of pasta to stick in the fridge for the week.
Tonight, hopefully we will be able to stop by a family BBQ of one of fiance's friends from work. Or else scrounge up an odd assortment of foods and try to catch some fireworks.
Be safe!
